thanks Julia, p.s. I'm 17 now (:

Today was my 17th birthday. I also got this from a reader named Julia. This is one of the best presents I've recieved in a long time. I celebrated my birthday over the course of 3 days, and now I'm exhausted. I also work almost everyday for the next two weeks. I am very tired, but I'm taking time off in July for when a friend is visiting. I hope everyone is having an awesome week, I know I am already (:

flapper inspiration

Mabel Normand in an ankle length lace dress, pendant necklace, and headscarf.
Modcloth dresses

Billie Dove and friends. I love the mixture of fashions here. Billie looks sort of pirate-y, while the girl on the right has a flower child (50 years early) look to her, and the girl on the left has a beachy princess style going on.
Gwen Lee and a giant dog, looking cas.
Dress from Modcloth. I love the drop waist and the layers of fabric at the bottom. It reminds me of a tennis dress, but it is also a bit mermaid-ish. The jersey material makes it very casual. It looks great for layering.
Lace and tulle dress from Urban Outfitters. Also with a drop waist, similar to the above dress but much more dressy and romantic.

It was the worst. But it's supposed to be. But you have to go, right?

Okay so prom really wasn't the worst. But...what's a post about prom without a good Pretty in Pink quote thrown in? It's difficult for something to be the worst when you love dressing up and dancing to really shitty music. Honestly I only ever went to a few school dances during high school, and they sucked, but prom was loads of fun and it's practically a requirement for life.
My date got tails and I got to wear this pretty little Modcloth dress which I blogged about months ago. Even though I was all gross and exhausted from washing my sister's car twenty minutes ago, I still felt all elegant and perfect. It wasn't quite Clara Bow at the Ritz, but it was pretty dang close.
Wearing the tailcoat! Putting on my top hat, tying up my white tie, brushing off my taaaiillls! (I'm so tiny!)
Taking off the shoes to go dance to some Basshunter or Cascada. I requested "If You Leave" by OMD. My date and I were the only ones on the dancefloor for that song, but I hardly cared. Gosh, I need more dignity. You can practically see up my skirt.
We're a classy bunch.
My sister and I hardly look a thing alike. But it was really nice of her to come over and see me all dressed up. Even if she did make me wash her car beforehand.
